Inspiration: Fashion-Forward Minimalism with Maquette and Patina

Today’s wedding inspiration comes from wabi-sabi, the ancient Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection. It embraces authenticity, simplicity and asymmetry, while promoting living in harmony with nature. In other words, it’s everything we love about art!

Wabi-sabi also embraces history, which is why Fadensonnen was the perfect backdrop for this fashion-forward editorial. A wine and sake bar in Baltimore’s historic district, the venue’s rustic setting is a minimalist’s dream, featuring warm woods and geometric shapes. We can picture a small ceremony or elopement in front of the fireplace, followed by an intimate, candlelit dinner around the great table.

The gowns we would choose for such an occasion? Maquette and Patina, of course! Fitted, elegant and asymmetric, they were practically made for this aesthetic. Their clean and fluid lines, especially when paired with unpolished up-dos and natural, glowing skin, call back to the ideals of wabi-sabi: beauty, simplicity and harmony.

Flora Obscura in Paris

Last month we shot a Flora Obscura campaign in the heart of Paris, which was one of those pinch-me-am-I-dreaming moments! Our team, including the incredible Peter Bourgeois, scouted iconic city sights for the concept, and the result is one of my favorite shoots to date.

Beyond that, the trip itself was truly inspiring, considering that Flora Obscura was also inspired by history and architecture! I was also able to meet with our European mills, and you know that means! 2021 is just around the corner!
