I'm going to apologize in advance for the abnormally large number of photos in this post, but when you're a wedding gown designer and your best friend gets married, you don't half-ass it. (Yes, I said ass on a wedding blog.)
This is Katie Pearls. Pearls and I met in high school at a super nerdy faux government camp for girls where you learned things like how to shake hands like a lady, ran for fake senate seats, and had tea with the governor's wife (southern belle style, if you will) ......We spent our college years riding a tandem bicycle around Charleston, living together in an old historic house downtown on Rutledge Avenue (now the name of one of our best selling gowns!), and bonding as an urban family of sorts as we navigated the madness that is growing up - planning our futures, tackling self doubts, heartbreaks, you name it. Time took her to San Francisco, me to NYC, but it's the type of friendship that thrives despite the distance.
Pearls suffered through my neurotic midnight sewing sessions for years, and hopefully this was a bit of a repayment for that! For her Charleston destination wedding to the very dapper Jeremy, we created a custom gown of hand embellished silk and sequin vines over layers and layers of tulle, and a second look of full on sequined glam for the reception.

First look at her groom!
